Kerala State Land Use Board (KSLUB) is a State Government Department with the basic objective of providing necessary advisory support on matters related to the optimum use of land and land resources viz; soil, water, plant, animal system. The Department has a state level digital data repository of natural resources on different scales. Central/State Government Departments, Local Self Government Institutions and other organizations are making use of this spatial resource database for planning and implementing development projects. The department organizes awareness on the need for conservation, development and management of precious land resources.
Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP) envisages restoring the ecological balance by harnessing, conserving and developing degraded natural resources such as soil, vegetative cover and water. The outcomes expected from the programme are prevention of soil run-off, regeneration of natural vegetation, rain water harvesting and recharging of the ground water table. This enables multi-cropping and introduction of diverse agro-based activities, which help to provide sustainable livelihoods to the people residing in the watershed area
Kerala State Land Use Board is executing a number of consultancy projects on GIS, Land Use Planning and Watershed Management. One of the major consultancy projects is providing Technical Support for preparing the Detailed Project Report under the Integrated Watershed Management Programme.
